You start on a dirt track below the hamlet of Bousiéyas. You reach the Issias hut, then go up the valley to reach the Colombiere pass (2237m). At the pass, go around the Pointe de Gianes before arriving on the old military path of the Crête Blanche. Walk along this path, sometimes on the Tinée slope, sometimes on the Sestrière slope. From the Col de la Blanche, a few bends are enough to reach the Col de l'Alpe (2,600m). Then go down towards the Colombart pass (2 539 m), follow the path of the Alpe valley before catching up with the GR5 that you had taken on the outward journey.
